2018 Chablis Les Preuses

Tasting notes
The 2018 Chablis Grand Cru Les Preuses has turned out brilliantly, delivering notes of orange oil, crisp orchard fruit, iodine, white flowers and oyster shell, followed by a full-bodied, ample and enveloping palate that's racy and saline, concluding with a long, electric finish. This is rather open for a young Dauvissat Preuses; and while it should, all things being equal, enjoy a long life, it will be less of a crime than usual to open a bottle or two young.

The 2018 Chablis Les Preuses Grand Cru has an outstanding nose for the vintage, very well defined with light nutty and smoky aromas. The palate is quite saline on the entry, displaying fine tension. Not as powerful as the 2019 but with an uncharacteristic linearity for the vintage, and more classic in style than many.
So flinty and mineral, with crushed stones and a wealth of lime peel, grapefruit pith and some white peaches in the mix, as well as strong, refined oyster-shell and iodine-like aromas. Super savory, though, with lemon pastry and almond meal. The palate has a very supple, smooth build of acidity, elevating white-peach, lime-sorbet and crushed-stone flavors. The late surge of spear-like minerals carries long and reveals the true length of this wine to come in time. Try from 2026.
Clear light colour. Very much white fruit on the nose, voluptuous up front, then much stricter behind, with excellent weight at the back. Dauvissat’s Les Preuses 2018 offers a little touch of liquorice, to add complexity and the wine finishes with good acidity and fine length.
