Brought up in 50% new French oak, the 2017 Côte Rôtie Côte Rozier shows the house style and is another rich, concentrated, blockbuster effort that's going to require bottle age. Lots of black fruits, scorched earth, graphite, and liquid violet notes all give way to a full-bodied Côte Rôtie that has lots of minerality, background oak, ripe yet certainly present tannins, and a great finish. Give bottles 4-5 years.

100% Syrah. Cask sample. Tasted blind. Closed nose. Tight palate with furry, grippy tannins and insufficient fruit ripeness. Lean and sharp. (RH)
