2018 Nuits St Georges

Tasting notes
There are 60 barrels of Duband's 2018 Nuits-Saint-Georges Village, making it one of his most important cuvées. Exhibiting aromas of peonies, rose petals, red berries, cassis and rich soil tones, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with a concentrated core of fruit that largely hides its muscular chassis of powdery tannin. This is very promising.

2 ha in La Charmotte, Aux Saints-Juliens and Les Plateaux (behind Gouge). Barrel sample. Mid cherry red. Beautifully scented. Great finesse in this paper-fine texture and delicate but definite red fruit. Not sweet but scented. Almost floral. Long and dancing. But clearly has longevity, too. (JH)
