Tasting notes
Named after David's first born son, this is produced from organically farmed vines just above Vosne-Romanée. Some of Burgundy's highest vineyards - an important consideration given the warmth of 2018 - and with an average age of 55 years old, the vines allow for a beautifully concentrated and remarkably fresh wine that's a joy to taste. Drinking wonderfully now, and with the capacity to age for many years in the cellar, it's a great wine to add to the portfolio. Outperforming many a 1er Cru and one of the best priced examples of Pinot Noir anywhere in the world, it's a great choice for both long-term Burgundy connoisseurs as well as those who are looking to try this region for the first time. 55 year old vines. Named for David's son. A hint of reduction quickly dissipates to reveal a wonderfully airy nose of fruits des bois, red and dark berries, a touch of spice. Palate is exceptionally fresh, full of intense wild strawberry and redcurrant flavours - the finish is long, clean and pure. Makes a mockery of most Chambolle Musigny village, as always this offers outstanding value.

Tasted from a 5-cl mini sample bottle. From David Duband's own vineyards and includes some fruit from 55-year-old vines. A bit of a Christmassy nose – cranberries and orange peel and even a tiny bit of kirsch. Lovely ripe fruit sheathed in lean, savoury tannins. Dried herbs and woody cassia bark weave through the frame. A very subtle warm, medicinal sweetness that reminds me a bit of good red vermouth and Angostura bitters. Dry finish marked by light astringency. (TC)
Richer and more generous than its 2017 sibling, Duband's 2018 Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Cuvée Louis Auguste offers up aromas of cherries, ripe berry fruit and plums, framed by a deft touch of toasty oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and gourmand, balanced by lively acids.
Named after David Duband’s eldest son. Vines you can see from the tasting room. 60% whole bunch for all the village wines and 25% new oak. Barrel sample. Lightish cherry red. Red fruit and herbs on the nose. Smells of tiny red berries. Hint of thyme. Taut and herby on the palate too. Great freshness and precise shape. (JH)
