Tasting notes
The 2018 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru has a fresh, quite mineral-driven bouquet with wild peach, blackcurrant leaf and a discrete Muscat aroma that becomes almost overwhelming in the glass. The palate is ripe on the entry with orange rind and mandarin notes, but it just needs more substance and delineation on the back end. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 white tasting.

Notes of mineral reduction, floral, iodine and poached pear are also trimmed in soft wood. The solidly dense and powerful large-scaled flavors possess a lovely sense of verve with ample minerality and salinity, all wrapped in an impressively persistent, balanced and relatively dry finale. This is sufficiently compact to make clear that at least some patience will be necessary if you wish to see this at its apogee. 2026+
The 2018 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru comes from 2.5ha of 45-year-old vines and is matured for 12 months in barrel. It has a more floral bouquet than the Montmains, pressed white flowers mingling with lemon zest and light chalk dust aromas. The palate is very well balanced with a slightly honeyed opening, counterbalanced by a fine thread of acidity and subtle tropical notes toward the finish. Everything here remains nicely controlled and there is reassuring persistence. Excellent.
