Tasting notes
Cask sample. Subtle leather notes and sweet fruit. Such a gorgeous texture, behind the fruit there is very subtle clove and pepper spice and a touch of whole-bunch-derived freshness, an ashy smoky note adds complexity. (AC)

The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin La Perrière 1er Cru is matured with 50% whole bunch. This has an earthy bouquet of potent woodland aromas, like walking through a forest on a damp October morning. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Good midpalate depth here, and a grippy finish, where white pepper, clove and spicy notes infuse the black fruit. Not immensely long, but this is all about the freshness and poise. Excellent.
