Tasting notes
Tasted from bottle, the 2017 Bourgogne Aligoté confirms its superb performance last year, offering up pretty aromas of oatmeal, beeswax, crisp green apple and white flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, elegantly textural and incisive, with a racier, more chiseled profile than the 2018 rendition, concluding with a chalky finish. One of the finest Aligoté bottlings produced, this reliably age-worthy cuvée will merit some time in the cellar: the 2008 vintage, for example, is in its prime today.

In tank since just before the 2018 harvest and will be bottled in March or April. Planted in 1938. Slightly smoky and reductive on the nose. Spicy and intense in aroma but more steely and mineral than fruity. Super-tight and mineral on the palate, with a lightness that belies the intensity and length. Slightly chewy and already complex. Slight grip. (JH)
