Tasting notes
Made with certified-organic fruit, the Cordella 2015 Brunello di Montalcino shows a note of scorched earth or burnt ember that I recognize from some of the other Brunelli from this warm and sunny 2015 vintage. The wine is not overripe per se, but the warm conditions of the vintage have instead endorsed toasted or charcoal-like aromas. Those smoky tones are backed by dark fruit, cherry confit and blackberry preserves. Try out some barbecued beef ribs for this one.

The 2015 Cordella Brunello di Montalcino is spicy and intense from the first tilt of the glass, as peppery herbs blow off to reveal crushed raspberry, smoky minerals and dusty rose. The finish is long, structured and impeccably balanced, with lingering notes of dried wild berries, leather and savory spice. This is really quite pretty and should get better after a few years of cellaring.
Tasted blind. Mid ruby. Lifted cassis (!) and cherry nose. Supple fruit with very firm tannins and with notes of oak and candyfloss on the finish. Looks a little manufactured. (WS)
A soft and ripe red with plum and berry aromas and flavors. Full body, soft tannins and a flavorful finish. Drink now.
