Tasting notes
0.55 ha of 70-year-old vines and their most southerly vineyard, with particularly low yields. In the commune of Prémeaux-Prissé. 100% whole bunch. Maximum 20% new oak. Mid crimson but a slightly darker hue than some of these 2017s. Sweet and spicy red fruit, even a touch of orange. Stems are quite evident here in that herbal freshness but not intrusive or excessive. On the palate, very moreish even though the fruit is dark red and there’s a definite savoury character, a light dusty/mineral restraint, and the tannins are super-fine. Whole-bunch at its most subtle. Full of energy without being excitable. Great length. (JH)

The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Corvées Pagets 1er Cru is 100% whole bunches. It has a very intense bouquet of brambly red fruit, briar, wild heather and light crushed rock aromas; more tertiary scents (damp moss?) emerge with time. The medium-bodied palate features supple tannin and just a slight lactic tincture on the entry, layers of tart red fruit infused with minerals and even a cheeky hint of Turkish Delight on the finish. This feels very long and tender.
Vinified without any destemmed fruit, the 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos des Corvées Pagets offers up notes of orange rind, rose petal, cherries and savory bass notes of forest floor. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, ample and gourmand, with supple tannins, a juicy core of fruit and a stony finish. It's a beautifully elegant, fragrant expression of Nuits-Saint-Georges.
