Tasting notes
Castiglion del Bosco is the Montalcino estate owned by Massimo Ferragamo of the Ferragamo shoe and fashion dynasty. This pretty wine shows precision and focus with a rich, fruit-forward style. The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino is a shapely Tuscan red with the softness and velvety intensity to pair with a winter meat dish by an open fireplace. The wine glides smoothly over the palate, imparting aromas of black cherry, dried blackberry, plum, toasted spice and crushed flower. This harvest, which came about a week earlier than expected, resulted in a measured and carefully balanced Sangiovese from a generous vintage. An ample 10,000 cases were made.

The 2015 Brunello di Montalcino opens with a dark and alluring bouquet, showcasing savory herbs and florals up front, as notes of citrus-tinged cherries, rosemary, leather, and crushed stone evolve in the glass. Silky textures give way to depths of black cherry, sweet spice, and saturating minerals tones, all carried by fresh acidity. Its structural core makes an appearance through the dramatic finish, as saturating spiced cherry and mineral tones slowly fade, leaving an echo of dark florals and inner earth tones.
Wonderful aromas of flowers, plums, terracotta and white pepper. Intense, yet ever so subtle. Medium to full body, firm and silky tannins and a long and intense finish. Shows excellent length. Drink after 2021.
