Cask sample. Subtle matchstick notes on the nose, plenty of tart citrus fruit with some grapefruit bitterness then a strong floral element for complexity. Quite disparate flavours, but they come together well. (RH)

The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet is a blend of several parcels within the appellation and matures in 25% new oak with 30% in 400-litre barrels. It has a straightforward bouquet with fresh apple peelings and a subtle marine scent. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, just a touch of sour lemon lending edginess towards the finish but there is decent length here. Fine.
