Tasting notes
The 2018 Volnay Clos des Chênes 1er Cru is blessed with the most complex and engaging bouquet of the five Volnays from Jadot this year. The very well-balanced palate features fine-grained tannins, well-judged acidity and a sense of harmony toward the finish. The only thing missing is a sense of personality and maybe some charm.

Aromas of sweet wild berries, raw cocoa and dried flowers, deftly framed by new oak, introduce the 2018 Volnay 1er Cru Clos des Chênes (Maison Louis Jadot), a medium to full-bodied, muscular and structured wine built around powdery tannins and lively acids. This, too, is a success this year.

About the producer

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
