I believe a new cuvee (at least it’s the first time I’ve tasted it), the 2014 Shiraz S-Block boasts a fabulous perfume of blue fruits, violets, sagebrush, and peppery herbs. This gives way to a full-bodied Shiraz that has a seamless, weightless texture, fine tannin, and terrific purity of fruit, all of which make it a beautiful red that can be drunk today with incredible pleasure, or cellared for upward of a decade.

Cask sample. Had to drop 50% of the fruit because of drought. This block was abandoned and it survived. No Cambrian soil, but clay. Joint venture with their US importers. Very floral nose with liquorice notes. Round and appealing already with lots of saltiness. (JR)
