The 2017 Echézeaux Grand Cru has a seductive bouquet of beautifully delineated, pure brambly red fruit, sous-bois and wilted rose petal aromas. The palate is very well defined with good backbone and a fine line of acidity. Taut and fresh, this offers plenty of energy and breeding and sensual brambly red fruit laced with white pepper on the finish. Superb. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

Thick-set black fruit, layers of violet and herbal complexity, dense body with firm but friable tannins. Just a little warmth on the finish, but there is lots of potential compressed into this, considering it's such a young wine. (RH)
