Score 89/100 · Drink 2019-2024, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Jul 2019

Earthy, loamy notes and hints of cola and black cherry appear on the nose of Akarua's 2017 Bannockburn Pinot Noir. It's impressively colored and extracted, leaning more toward savory than fruity, with noticeable tannins on the medium to full-bodied palate. A bit chunky in style, it's flavorful and sturdy—something of a steakhouse Pinot Noir.
