The 2015 Dedicato a Walter shows why Cabernet Franc is such an exciting variety on the Tuscan Coast. Rich and explosive in the glass, the 2015 soars with inky blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, mocha and wild flowers. The purity of the flavors is just striking. This is another super-classic wine from Poggio al Tesoro that captures the essence of what Bolgheri is all about.

The 2015 Bolgheri Superiore Dedicato A Walter is a pure expression of Cabernet Franc, offering mineral essences of sea shell, clay and round rocks. This wine is supremely elegant, with dark fruit, spice and a touch of Mediterranean herb. The tannins are integrated and gorgeous. This vintage was aged in 100% new oak. The winemaking team has shortened the time in wood to 24 months and increased the time in bottle to ten months. (They are aiming for 12 months in bottle with the upcoming vintages.) Still, the wine will benefit from even more time in the cellar to express itself fully. Bravi.
A pretty nose that shows lots of cabernet character with eucalyptus, fresh herbs, grass and then plenty of blackcurrants, iodine and hot stones. I love the richness to the essence-like dark fruit here with round tannins and plenty of spice undertones. A big, flavorful finish. Pure cabernet franc. Drink from 2024.
