The gamey, meaty 2016 Saint Joseph La Croix de Chabot (100% Syrah from granite soils) reveals a deep, saturated purple color as well as rocking notes of blackcurrants, black olives, smoked meats, and earth. It's rich, medium to full-bodied, has beautiful depth of fruit, and silky tannins. These wines are a collaboration between famous Paris three-star Chef Yannick Alléno and Michel Chapoutier. The quality of these releases has soared in past vintages. These are classy, classic wines that also represent terrific values.
