Pale yellow. Lively citrus pith and orchard fruit aromas are complicated by suggestions of jasmine, white pepper and ginger. Dry and tightly wound on entry, then fleshier in the mid-palate, offering fresh melon and pear flavors and a touch of candied ginger. The clinging, gently spicy finish repeats the melon and floral notes and lingers with good intensity.

The 2013 Côtes du Rhône Samorens Blanc is impressive, with pretty citrus blossom, white flowers and salty minerality. Medium-bodied, with bright acidity and clean finish, it’s borderline outstanding and worth checking out.
