Rinaldi's 2015 Barolo Brunate is a powerful, dense wine. Hints of spice, licorice, leather, game and cherry develop with time in the glass. The power and intensity of the year are very much in evidence. But there is also a slightly roasted quality and an aggressiveness in the tannin that I am not used to seeing. Tasted three times with consistent notes.

A dusty, complex red with plum, dry-earth, mushroom and cedar aromas and flavors. Medium to full body. Chewy tannins. Needs time to soften. Better after 2022.

La Morra. Tasted blind. Deep ruby with orange tinges. Sweet-sour cherry on the nose. Concentrated fruit with integrated acidity, which takes the lead on the finish. Supple and straightforward finish with coating tannins. Not exceptionally complex, but that might come with time. Already approachable. (WS)
