Tasting notes
FINE+RARE, Oct 2021

This Chassagne is drinking beautifully now. The flavours are reminiscent of a sophisticated key lime pie – a pithy, green citrus layer, complemented by lactic richness and a nutty base. It’s fresh and pure with delicate notes of lime blossom and gooseberry layering with the creamy texture and chalky minerality. Deliciously moreish.

The 2013 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos Saint Jean, which sees 10% new wood, offers subtle tropical tones with hints of blackberry leaf on the linear bouquet that soon loses its inhibitions. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity. This is a delicate and poised Clos Saint Jean that tapers on the finish at the moment, but it should drink nicely over the next decade.
