Black cherries in liqueur, mint, wild flowers, lavender, sage and new leather open up in Avignonesi's 2012 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Judging by its mid-weight structure, this expressive Vino Nobile is probably best suited to near and medium-term drinking. This is another very pretty wine from Avignonesi.

Medium-deep ruby. Stalky and a little reductive on the nose. Strangely muted, yet supple palate with hints of cherry fruit. Not clear where this is going at the moment. (WS)
