Score 90/100 · Drink 2021-2029, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2020

The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin has retained a wonderful bouquet with red cherries, cranberry and wild strawberry fruit that feels cohesive and concentrated. The new oak is nicely integrated. The palate is smooth in texture with slightly lower acidity than expected. Very harmonious and seductive, this fans out nicely on the peppery finish. Recommended. - Neal Martin

The 2016 Gevrey-Chambertin has a well-defined bouquet, though it is quite backward at the moment despite coaxing from the glass. The palate is clean and crisp, well structured with more black than red fruit, gentle grip with hints of tobacco towards the finish. For a Village Cru, this will do nicely, although I would give it a year in bottle. Tasted at Flint Wines' Value Burgundy tasting.

Mid garnet. Quite pungent nose and very direct and well balanced with good, straight fruit. Solid. Lots to get your teeth into. (JR)
