Tasting notes
Very savory and almost spicy, the 2009 Nemo (Cabernet Sauvignon) opens to grilled notes of smoked meat and rosemary with loads of dark, luscious fruit at the back. Barbecue sauce and sweet spice give the wine added aromatic appeal. Where this wine really stands apart is in the mouth, where polished tannins add a firming sense of structure. Nemo is ready to drink now or can be put aside for the future.

There is no shortage of personality in the 2009 Nemo, Monsanto's Cabernet Sauvignon. Game, black cherries, wild herbs, smoke and scorched earth jump from the glass. The 2009 is big, rich and structured, with plenty of depth and persistence. It will be interesting to see how things develop in the coming years. Even with all of the wine's considerable length, my sense is that the wild, gamy notes will ultimately dominate over the fruit, but only time will tell.
