The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru is quite high-toned and flashy on the nose, offering floral, lush blueberry and cassis fruit. It just lacks a bit of terroir expression and refinement. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and very pure fruit. Sleek and sensual, although I do find that the finish lacks some amplitude and feels a little monochromatic compared to others. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Amoureuses 1er Cru is deep in color within the context of the vintage. It has a gorgeous, very pure bouquet of intense red and black fruit in approximately equal measure, well defined, with just a light brine-like influence. The palate is very structured, grippier than, say, Christopher Roumier’s or Mugnier’s, and very focused, with a slightly confit-like finish. Sophisticated and vivid. This will surely age with style.

The most elegant wine in the cellar is the 2017 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Amoureuses, a classy offering that bursts with aromas of black raspberries, cherries, rose petals, dark chocolate, spices and grilled squab. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, satiny and succulent, with an ample core of fruit, melting tannins and a long, sappy finish.
