Score 94/100 · Drink 2028-2060, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Apr 2018

The 2016 Goldtröpfchen Auslese is based on predominantly healthy grapes with just 5% to 10% of botrytis. The wine shows an intensely aromatic yet fine and slatey stone fruit aroma with flinty notes. Lush and sweet, with vibrant acidity, this is a salty-piquant and pretty voluptuous Auslese that needs several years to reach digestible dimensions. The acidity is fresh and lively, but the sweetness is still dominant (as is the sulfur dose).

Very ripe fruit here at first. Honeyed orange peel. Richly sweet, full of golden plum and zingy apricot. Rounded, juicy and intense. (JH)
