Tasting notes
Deep ruby. Highly expressive and focused on the nose, displaying an array of red/dark fruit, spice and floral qualities and a smoky mineral topnote. Juicy and energetic on the palate, which offers concentrated raspberry liqueur, spicecake and rose pastille flavors that are given spine by a core of minerality. At once powerful and graceful in style, finishing with strong, floral- and mineral-driven tenacity.

Fermentation is semi carbonic in stainless steel and concrete tanks. From the famous vineyard of La Roilette, the Vieilles Vignes cuvée is from vines aged over 60 years old and includes a proportion of wine raised in smaller oak barrels along with a majority from concrete and steel tanks. Darker than the Chiroubles 2016 from this producer. Tense and restrained. For the long term. Rather meaty and savoury. Lots of chew at present. GV (JR)
