2015 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru Vieilles Vignes

Bright dark red with ruby highlights. Liqueur-like black cherry and musky espresso on the nose; comes across as rather bound up and brooding after the Chambolle. A rather broad, powerful Gevrey villages , with its black fruit and soil flavors showing little in the way of early sweetness. Finishes with broad, substantial, palate-dusting tannins and very good violet persistence. But this is tough going today and will need time.
