Tasting notes
Deep red. Textbook cabernet nose offers pungent redcurrant, cherry, tobacco and cigarbox aromas complicated by dried rose and green peppercorn. Sharply etched red and dark berry flavors show very good depth as well as bright minerality. Sweetness builds on the long, juicy finish, which leaves traces of vanilla and bitter chocolate behind. While this is built to age there's plenty of flavor interest right now.

Tiny dollops of Malbec and Merlot are included in the 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon, a Bordeaux-like red offering up superb aromas of black currants, cedar, licorice, and new oak. Opaque ruby/purple-colored and medium-bodied with good acidity, intensity, and purity, it should drink well for 10-12 years. Importer: Negociants USA, Napa, CA; tel. (707) 259-0993
