From parcels that touch Santenots, the 2017 Meursault Vendanges Sélectionnées offers up aromas of yellow orchard fruit, flowers and fresh peach. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, fleshy and nicely concentrated, with more depth and dimension than the regular Meursault, its generous core of fruit balanced by juicy acids.

Barrel sample. Below Les Santenots du Milieu. Vines 65–70 years. 35 cm soil and then hard limestone. Fined in January and bottled in March. Extremely ripe citrus with orange and just-ripe apricot. Spicy and mealy too. Creamy. No new oak because it was already so rich. Spicy and deep and with complexity already. Moreish and still fresh with that saline aftertaste of the Lafarge whites (and perhaps more widely) this vintage. (JH)
