Tasting notes
Bursting with expressive aromas of raspberries, candied peel, woodsmoke and forest floor, Jean-Marie Fourrier's 2017 Echézeaux Grand Cru is medium to full-bodied, ample and expansive, with broad shoulders, a fleshy core of fruit and firm but fine tannins that assert themselves on the youthfully chewy finish.

The 2017 Echézeaux Grand Cru is just missing a little sophistication when I tasted it from barrel, missing the assuredness of the Bonnes-Mares by direct comparison. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannin, quite a "thickly textured" Echézeaux that might be just a little "pushed" for my liking, at the expense of some finesse on the finish. Maybe bottle age will engender more sophistication?
