Tasting notes
Full bottle 1,303 g. Lustrous, shaded ruby. Fully mature, well knit nose and a palate that has definitely said goodbye to the tannins. Warm, ripe Sangiovese that caresses rather than challenges the palate. Sweet start and tangy finish. Medium length. A pleasure to drink now but this bottle gives the impression that the wine's peak has (just) passed. Mild and gentle. (JR)

The 2008 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Loreto is another gorgeous wine from Mastrojanni in this vintage. A Brunello of unusual textural depth, the 2008 Vigna Loreto impresses for its balance and overall harmony. Smoke, tobacco, savory herbs and licorice all flesh out in this radiant Brunello. Layers of flavor keep blossoming as the Loreto opens up in the glass. There is a lot to like here.

Mid ruby with orange rim. Reluctant spicy nose, a little dusty but not without class. Almost lipsmacking acidity framing sweet and still very compact fruit. Very good balance and grip and with lots of potential. Succulent and gripping finale. (WS)
