Tasted blind. Solid and a bit stodgy. No Margaux grace. Very drying tannins. (JR)

The 2018 La Tour de Mons has a crisp, delineated and very fresh bouquet that seems to leap from the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with graphite-infused black fruit, very saline toward the finish, and moderate in depth. It has certainly gained more energy since I tasted it from barrel and it should drink well over the next decade.

The 2018 Château La Tour De Mons is another elegant, classy Margaux that's already showing nicely. Lots of red and black currants, cedar pencil, dried flowers, and earthy tobacco define the bouquet, and it's medium-bodied, with nicely integrated tannins, no hard edges, and an outstanding finish. It's going to evolve gracefully for 15-20 years.
