2018 is an excellent Fronsac vintage, and shouldn't be overlooked. And this is delivering at the top of its game, just full of pleasurable ripe black damson and red cherry fruits, concentrated and balanced by a controlled slate texture and mouthwatering finish. No rush to open, but you can easily drink now with a carafe, and it's a brilliant food wine with its juicy acidities and bright fruits. The last vintage under owner Patrick Léon (now succeeded by son Bertrand), and it stands out as a testament to his skills as a winemaker.

Deep purple-black colored, the 2018 Les Trois Croix bursts from the glass with bold notions of stewed black cherries, prunes and blackberry preserves, plus hints of Chinese five spice, tree bark and black truffles with a waft of licorice. The rich, concentrated, full-bodied palate delivers mouth-coating black fruits with a velvety texture and just enough freshness, finishing with a spicy kick.
The 2018 Les Trois Croix has a nicely detailed, mineral-driven bouquet of lifted black cherries, wild strawberry and pencil lead aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, crisp acidity and a classically styled, graphite-tinged finish. This is another classy Fronsac from a property that has been on a strong run of form.
