Tasting notes
It looks like I was too harsh on the 2018 Château Lamothe-Bergeron on release, but now I think it's a borderline outstanding wine that I'd be happy to own. Offering up lots of ripe black fruits, tobacco, violets, and some earth and minerality, it's medium to full-bodied, ripe, beautifully textured, balanced and elegant on the palate, with good tannins and plenty to love.

The 2018 Lamothe-Bergeron has an attractive, classic bouquet of black fruit, cedar, sous-bois and tobacco scents. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins and just a very slight bitter note on the entry, but there is decent, tightly packed fruit toward the finish, and a tobacco-stained aftertaste. Drink over the next decade.
The 2018 Lamothe-Bergeron is terrific. Sweet floral accents, red berry fruit, cedar, pipe tobacco and dried flowers all run through the 2018. Readers will find a Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois that delivers the goods. The 2018 is elegant, full of personality, and, most importantly, flat-out delicious.
