Cru bourgeois exceptionnel. 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot. 12–15 months in oak. Bought by Treasury Wine Estates in 2019. Mid crimson. Subtle aroma of black fruit and stone dust, black olive too. Sinewy but not lean. The tannins are already rounded and slimmed down. Well-balanced whole. (JH)

Herbal and blackcurrant aromas come together in that classic bordeaux way. Dry, firm tannins but with enough give to drink now. Long graphite and dark-chocolate length. Full marks for typicality. (RH)

The 2018 Cambon de Palouse shows signs of greenness on the nose, perhaps more so than when I tasted it from barrel. The palate is hard on the entry and quite austere, with a dry woody finish. I reckon the fruit will fade long before the rather aggressive tannins. Tasted twice.
