Great texture and grip, clear depth of flavour and a sense of minerality - really a very good white wine by Nicolas Thienpont that has salinity and is mouthwatering on the finish. Unusual for its Sémillon dominance, fermented in 500l barrels for six months.

The Les Charmes-Godard 2018 Blanc is a blend of 63% Semillon, 21% Sauvignon Blanc and 16% Sauvignon Gris. It comes skipping out of the glass with bright, vibrant scents of lemon tart, Golden Delicious apples and orange blossoms with hints of lime cordial and grapefruit. The palate is light to medium-bodied and delicately styled, featuring lovely purity and soft acidity and finishing with lingering apple and pear notes.

The 2018 Château Les Charmes-Godard Blanc is another impressive white in the vintage. Lots of ripe pineapple, lemon zest, and honeyed mineral notes define the bouquet, and it's a nicely concentrated, balanced, layered white with bright acidity and the class to keep for 7-8 years or more.

The 2018 Les Charmes Godard is gorgeous. Creamy, open-knit and so seductive, the 2018 is a real pleasure to taste. Apricot, mint, lemon confit, chamomile and a kiss of French oak flesh out as this creamy, beautifully textured dry white opens. The 2018 is smooth yet retains terrific freshness and verve, especially for the year.

Les Charmes-Godard

Nicolas Thienpont purchased this estate in the Côte des Francs in 1988. Largely producing white wine, there is a high percentage of Semillon (60%) with 25% Sauvignon Gris and 15% Sauvignon Blanc. Fermented in 500-litre oak and spending six months on lees, this is an impressive, textured white wine.
