The 2016 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Kabinett "Armes" offers a luscious, coolish, fresh and still slightly reductive bouquet that intermingles perfectly with the flinty terroir and raspberry notes of the cru. On the palate, this is a mouth-filling, light, pure and vibrantly refreshing Kabinett with highly stimulating piquancy and mouth-tickling finish. It's a sunny Sunday afternoon, and it's terrible to spit this lingering piquant, lush and salty 9% beauty that actually needs to be swallowed. Tasted from AP 11 17 in June 2019.

Hints of green onion and cheese need to dissipate for the aromatic personality of this bottling to properly emerge, but beneath them there are attractive scents of apple, grapefruit, and honeydew melon, anticipating the bright juiciness that ensues on a polished, buoyant palate. The exuberant, consummately refreshing finish is certainly clear enough – indeed, admirably so, with a wealth of stony, alkaline and saline nuances lending intrigue and saliva-inducement. This bottling from a site just above the hamlet of Ferres should grow up to be a real gem.
