Tasting notes
I suspect the finest Roussanne from France outside of Château de Beaucastel in the Southern Rhône, Tunnel’s 2015 Saint-Péray Roussanne offers a medium gold color as well as awesome notes of buttered citrus, caramelized peach, crushed rocks, and a beautiful salinity that develops with time in the glass. Deep, rich, powerful, and full-bodied, it has riveting acidity, terrific purity of fruit, and a great finish. It’s a tour de force in Roussanne that will drink nicely for two decades or more. Bravo!

Fermented 50% in barriques, 50% in 1,000 litre vats. Nutty, full with a more dense and concentrated orange citrus character on the palate. Quite warm alcohol. Displays all the weight and of power of the Rhône. (RH)
Light bright yellow-gold. Poached pear, nectarine, honey and lemon zest on the mineral-accented nose. Pliant, deeply concentrated pit and citrus fruit flavors are complemented by hints of succulent herbs and fennel, and a hint of bitter quinine adds back-end cut. Closes with solid punch and strong persistence, leaving behind a note of candied citrus fruits.
Another blockbuster and one of the finest examples of Roussanne that I’ve tasted from the Northern Rhône, the 2015 Saint Péray Roussanne sports a light gold color as well as slightly tropical notes of caramelized peach, sweet oak, white flowers and mango. Gorgeously layered, concentrated and impeccably balanced, it’s a killer wine.
