Tasting notes
The 2013 Lieser Niederberg Helden Riesling Auslese Gold Capsule is more discreet on the nose than the gold capsuled Juffer Sonnenuhr Auslese and reveals lovely, clear tropical fruit aromas. Bottled with 7% of alcohol this pure and elegant wine is extremely piquant and mineral on the palate and its lingering salinity and piquancy makes it tastes surprisingly dry.

Fine aromas of orange and mandarin replace the more tropical fruit of the Helden Goldkapsel Auslese of previous years, but this has never been a wine to try and overwhelm with opulence. At Schloss Lieser they aim for a vibrant expression that comes from the successful balance of zesty fruit, animating acidity and profound minerality. Residual sugar is used to complement but not dominate the flavour. A tremendously long finish keeps growing in complexity. (MS)
