Tasting notes
The 2013 Volnay les Grands Poisots, which lost one-third of its fruit due to hail, is de-stemmed because of that, has an undergrowth-scented bouquet with wilted rose petals. The palate is a little pinched on the entry with crisp acidity, though it is missing a little flesh on the back end that will hopefully come back by the time of bottling.

No whole bunch in 2013. Makes two barrels – ‘and when it doesn’t hail, I will make three’. This is the wine he said initially was a malodorous disaster (by email to all his clients) but now says is fine. Light crimson. Bright cherry fruit and fresh and charming. Bitter cherries. Fine tannins and bone-dry finish. Very energetic. Clean and fresh. (JR)
