Score 91/100 · Drink 2015-2025, Mark Squires, Aug 2015

The 2011 Yatir Forest is a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Petit Verdot, aged for 14 months in French oak (only one-third new). In this vintage, there doesn't initially seem to be a lot of difference between this and the monovarietal Cabernet (well, sort of–there is some Petit Verdot there, too), also reviewed this issue. This does show a bit more concentration, sappier and more concentrated fruit and a bit more power. That said, the blends are similar and the styles are similar. This also has a touch of herbs, although less. They are both rather graceful and nicely constructed. After a couple of hours of air, it proves better able to get better in the glass and thus gets the clear nod. This is a better cellar candidate and a better wine, but at double the price, many will be quite happy with the regular Cabernet Sauvignon.
