Tasting notes
Structured and slightly astringent at this young stage, the 2010 Barolo Bricco Manzoni is built for longer cellar aging. The wine’s thick, enduring structure supports a bright array of flavors that span from cherry and cassis to truffle and pressed rose. Barolo Bricco Manzoni shows the thick bones and deep complexity to carry it forth over the years. Drink: 2017-2027. Importer: De Grazia Imports, www.marcdegrazia.com

La Morra. Quite deep ruby. Compact yet concentrated nose. Very contained and fine. Powerful yet balanced and with beautifully sculpted tannins. Complete. (WS)
Menthol, pine, licorice and dark spices wrap around a core of dark fruit in the 2010 Barolo Ciabot Manzoni. There is wonderful intensity to the Manzoni, partly the expression of site and partly from the aging in French oak barrels. As usual, the style is built on a greater degree of power than in the other Grasso Barolos. Readers will need to give the 2010 a few years to fully come together, but there is a lot to look forward to.
