Score 95/100 · Drink 2025-2028, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Nov 2025

The 2015 Avoyelles is bright and finely sculpted, with a feeling of translucence that is quite distinctive. Kirsch, rose petal, mint, blood orange and sweet spice lift out of the glass. After ten years, the 2015 has lost some of its fruit-forward exuberance and now reveals a bit more tannin structure than in the early going.

The 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon Avoyelles, Biagi's Cabernet Franc-based wine, is stellar. A towering, voluptuous wine, the 2015 is utterly captivating. Blueberry jam, mint, spice, lavender and crème de cassis give the 2015 much of its rich, super-concentrated feel, while soaring Franc overtones add nuance. The 2015 is even better from bottle than it was from barrel. There is so much to like. Sadly, there are just two barrels to go around.

A more classic Cabernet Franc-dominated blend that includes 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Petit Verdot, the 2015 Avoyelles is a sensational red from Tony Biagi. It’s a rich, full-bodied effort with a saturated purple color and notes of blue fruits, liquid violets, flowers and crushed rock minerality. This beauty has incredible intensity, sweet, fine-grained tannin, and blockbuster length, all making for a sensational Cabernet Franc that could very well have 30+ years of longevity.

A final blend of 54% Cabernet Franc, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon and 12% Petit Verdot, the 2015 Oakville Ranch Avoyelles sports a deep garnet-purple color and a slightly closed nose of ripe red currants, kirsch, plums and sautéed herbs with underbrush, menthol and wild thyme nuances. Full-on full-bodied, concentrated, taut and muscular, this firmly structured baby is bursting with intense flavors, finishing long and earthy.
