The single-vineyard 2004 Barbaresco Bric Turot is made in a big, fat style, with tons of super-ripe dark fruit and plenty toasted oak. The wine's concentration appears to have been achieved at some loss of elegance as the tannins come across as excessively hard. The Bric Turot is aged in a combination of small barrels and larger casks.

The Bric Turot is aged in a combination of small barrels and larger casks. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020. I was very impressed with the wines I tasted from Prunotto this year. Tarry, good attractive nose. Burly, savoury – bags of personality on the nose though surprisingly nimble on the palate. Tannins lurk but not too obtrusively so. (JR)
Dark red. Reticent but pure aromas of dark cherry, spicy berries, and licorice, with complicating notes of marzipan and underbrush. Fat and full but more backward than the basic bottling, with a strong spine of acids and tannins currently dominating the vibrant fruit and floral flavors. Like the basic Barbaresco, this is a very sappy, primary style, but this one is even more tightly coiled today. Offers terrific potential. This was aged in a combination of botti and second-use barriques
