Tasting notes
Brilliant purple. Dark fruit, floral and spice qualities on the hugely perfumed, expansive nose, along with suggestions of incense, olive and smoky minerals. Stains the palate with powerful, youthfully concentrated blueberry, cassis, spicecake and violet pastille flavors that are given spine and lift by a core of zesty acidity. Lingers with outstanding tenacity on the sharply delineated, floral-driven finish, which is shaped by chewy, slow-building tannins.

Dark purple. A hugely aromatic bouquet evokes ripe black and blue fruits, candied flowers, Indian spices and a hint of olive. Silky and focused on the palate, offering sweet, deeply concentrated dark berry liqueur, floral pastille and cola flavors, plus a hint of smoky minerality and building spiciness. Finishes smooth, sappy and extremely long, with sneaky tannins lending shape and discreet grip to the intense dark fruit and floral flavors.
About the producer

Allemand’s wines set the benchmark for Cornas: expressive Syrahs crafted with uncompromising traditional methods and released in tiny quantities. From the 1980s, he revived abandoned vineyards on Cornas’s steep granite slopes, building his domaine without inherited land or financial support.
