I was disappointed by this showing of Naudin-Ferrand's 2011 Echézeaux. Potent tobacco and mulch notes dominate the aromatics, along with a slight torrefactory element. It just feels underripe (perchance stems not fully lignified?) The palate is overtly herbal, with tomato vine aromas almost obscuring the rather scrawny red fruit, then tapers towards the finish. Tasted blind at La Trompette, London.
