Notes of peach, fresh pastry, anise, white flowers and both confit and fresh citrus introduce the 2017 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles, a full-bodied, enveloping and textural wine that's lively and fleshy. Tasted from bottle, this is among the more extrovert of Germain's 2017 premiers crus.

Bright medium yellow. Multidimensional nose combines white peach, tangy lemon and soft citrus scents, wet stone and menthol. A step up in oily density of material from the Folatières but with its ripe citrus and stone fruit flavors enlivened by sound acidity. Finishes classically dry and long, in need of more élevage like a number of these '17s. Incidentally, assistant Christophe Morin told me that most of these wines have about 4 grams per liter of acidity, similar to the winery's 2016s, but that there was "a better balance of tartaric and malic in 2017."
