Tasting Notes
Another superb option that we highly recommend is the fantastic Purple Rose from Tuscany's Castello di Ama - also an F+R exclusive and absolute favourite. This is a unique rosé crafted from 96% Sangiovese and just a touch of Merlot from the best vats that Castello di Ama have. Ageing in old barrels gives the wine great breadth and the ability to age beautifully with a couple of years in bottle. Bottled only in Magnums, we can think of no better wine to serve at summer gatherings that will impress wine lovers of all tastes with its dried floral aromas of Sangiovese, bright flavours of red cherry and refreshing acidity that make it a superb wine with food. Deep rosé colour with dried floral perfume aromas and fresh strawberry fruit. The palate has a bright, red cherry flavour and is so elegant and silky with a beautiful layered texture. This is a wine with depth but also lightness, brightness and incredible mouth-watering freshness. Top rosé pick for the drinker that wants more than simple fruit delivery. This wine has great texture and freshness too.

Bright medium red-pink. Very precise, juicy aromas and flavours of red cherry and herbs showcase very good size and depth, plus an enticing tactile chewy mouthfeel. A blend of mostly Sangiovese with a little Merlot. Co-owner and winemaker Marco Pallanti is one of those gifted winemakers who would have trouble making a bad wine even if he sets out to do so on purpose. (May 2019).
Ama's 2018 Purple Rosé is a saignée of Sangiovese fermented partly in a combination of steel and oak (30%). Rich and textured, with lovely depth, the 2018 is silky, perfumed and light on its feet. It has more than enough complexity and depth to drink well with a wide range of foods.
