The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges Clos de L’Arlot 1er Cru, containing 47% whole bunches, has more delineation and amplitude compared to the previous two vintages, more floral and conveys more energy. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, good tension, quite edgy and full of energy. There is a pleasing strictness and linearity on the finish with more persistence than the 2016. Recommended. Tasted at the Domaine de L’Arlot tasting at La Cabotte in London.

Mid slope on pink limestone rather than the marl of Clos de l’Arlot Rouge. Firm and savoury. Much more like classic white burgundy than the Gerbotte 2018. Textured finish and really quite appetising. (JR)
Monopole. Very pale garnet colour. Raspberry fruit with undergrowth aromas make this instantly appealing on the nose. On the palate, there's a bit of rubbery reduction, and the fruit finishes with a bitter leafiness. Very fine tannins and nicely judged acidity. Fairly light in concentration, with minimal persistence. (RH)
