The 2017 Clos de Vougeot le Grand Maupertui Grand Cru (from a parcel just below Grands Echézeaux) is matured entirely in new oak, as usual. It has strong minty scents on the nose that remind me of an Australian McClaren Vale. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannin and firm grip, and that minty note continues through to the slightly blocky finish.
